The AmdoLessons.com webpage works best on Internet Explorer and Windows XP or later. The site has been optimized for use with the T*b*t*n Machine Uni font. It is suggested that you download and install this font and specify it as the font to display T*b*t*n characters, especially if you are using Firefox.

The T*b*t*n Amdolessons.com webpage displays well on Safari on the Mac. However, you may have to download and install T*b*t*n fonts depending on your MacOS.

Help for PC/Windows Computers

Amdolessons.com is set to automatically load the T*b*t*n fonts into your browser in case you do not have T*b*t*n fonts installed.

Some security settings may ask you if you want to download this font file. Please answer "OK" or "Yes" for the best formatting of your T*b*t*n text. Our font files end with a file extension of .eot or .ttf

Some browsers may not load these fonts and will not display T*b*t*n characters unless you have a T*b*t*n font installed. If this is the case, you should install the T*b*t*n Machine Unicode font.

Here is how to install the T*b*t*n Machine Unicode font on Windows XP:

  1. Right-Click on either the T*b*t*n Machine Unicode link above or in this sentence. On the menu that appears, click 'Save Target as...' or 'Save Link as...'
  2. If you are asked, Choose to Save the file and choose the desktop of your PC as the location to save the file. You may choose to save it at another location, if you wish.
  3. Click the Start button
  4. Click to open the Control Panel.
  5. Double-click on 'Fonts'
  6. Drag the T*b*t*n Machine Unicode font file from your desktop (or other location)into the Fonts window.

    Please go through the procedure given above for installing the T*b*t*n Machine Unicode Font in Windows XP before starting this procedure.

  8. Open Internet Explorer if it is not already open.
  9. Click on "Tools" and then "Internet Options"
  10. Click on the "Fonts" Button in the Internet Options window.
  11. Click on the down Arrow beside the Language Script dropdown menu and select "Tibetan."
  12. You will see two fonts in the "Webpage font" box: "Arial Unicode MS" and "TCRC Youtso Unicode" Select "TCRC Youtso Unicode" and click "OK."
  13. Click "OK" in the Internet Options window.
  14. You should now be able to view the T*b*t*n characters at the top and bottom of this page.

How to get T*b*t*n Text to display on Firefox


(Tested on Version 3.6.3)

Note: If you do not have either the Uchen or T*b*t*n Machine Unicode font installed, please do so before starting this procedure.

  1. Select in the browser menu: Tools > Options... This opens the Options window.
  2. Click on the "Content" tab:
  3. Click on the "Advanced" button in the "Fonts&Colors..." box. This opens the Fonts window.
  4. select "Other Languages" in the "Fonts for:" drop down menu
  5. Select the T*b*t*n Machine Uni font for Serif, Sans-serif, and Monospace typefaces using the drop down menus. (The same font may be used for each). The font size may also be specified. These fonts may not be available for all selections.
    Note: Do not select "Always use my: Fonts", it will override our formatting for Amdo-T*b*t*n and the characters will likely appear in the wrong side.
  6. Click "OK" in the Fonts & Colors window and then in the Options window to return to your browser.

Help for Mac Computers

If you are unable to read T*b*t*n script on a Macintosh Computer, please install the T*b*t*n Machine Unicode font.

Here is how to download and install a font on a Macintosh Computer:

  1. Control-Click on either the T*b*t*n Machine Unicode link above or in this sentence.  To do a Control-Click, hold down the Control key and then click on the link.  On the menu that appears, click 'Open in New Window.'
  2. If you are asked, Choose to Save the file and choose the desktop of your Mac as the location to save the file.
  3. Double-click on the main drive on your desktop.
  4. Open the Applications folder.
  5. Double-click on the Font Book icon.  The Font Book window will open.
  6. Drag the T*b*t*n Machine uni font file from your desktop into the center column of the Fontbook window.
  7. You should now be able to view T*b*t*n characters at the top and bottom of this page.
